Play is a child’s natural way of self-expression. Children do not have all the communication tools we do as adults. Play Therapy allows kids to explore their emotions. With an attuned therapist creating a therapeutic relationship, the child is then able to express through their play. This permits permanent structural change in the brain. I will guide you to help co-regulate your child, so they feel empowered and more secure. We will begin addressing cognitive, behavioral, and emotional challenges as a team so you have tools for at home as well.
As children get older, it is developmentally appropriate for them to seek higher levels of autonomy. We will collaborate and consider when it is appropriate for your child or adolescent to meet individually with me.
“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” -Fred Rogers
